To help answer your question on the epicureanum/vagans differences I have come up
with a few clues to take note of.
One thing to get on the table first is per Mikhail Bagaturov (tarantulas.tropica.ru)
is that there are two color morphs with the vagans that have mildly differing color
which can further confuse everyone.
The B. vagans (Ausserer 1875) has a much larger distribution area compared to the epicureanum
which has a limited area only in the Yucatan peninsula.
The B. epicureanum (Chamberlin 1925) is smaller in legspan and paler than the vagans upon postmolt.
Further digging into this debacle I found some photos of each one's spermathecae and I do see
a difference between the two. Here are two photos:
